SmartView : #NoConnection Message

A client of mine was recently using the SmartView function "HsGetValue" but kept getting a #NoConnection message instead of data.

Here's one way around that issue:

  • Goto SmartView ribbon and choose "Panel":

  • Click on arrow next to the picture of the house, then choose “Private Connections”
  • Choose this option in the drop down box http://SERVERNAME:19000/hfm/../hfmofficeprovider/HFMOfficeProvider.aspx if its not there, then copy paste this link and put it here, then hit enter:
  • Click on + sign to expand your server

  • Right click on your application name

  • There should be an option to “Create new private connection”, if prompted, give it any name

This is issue related to SmartView retrieving data from HFM, but I'm sure it would be a similar issue for Essbase or Planning.
