I was recently working with a client that wanted me to take a look at their outline, specifically to optimize MDX member formulas. They sent over the .otl file and when I opened it up, I received the following error message:
I did some searches and was coming up empty.
Turns out, the client was running Essbase and EAS version 11.1.2.3.500, but I was running 11.1.2.3.000. Since the outline was last saved in a new version of Essbase, my older version could not recognize it.
Solution: I had to upgrade my Essbase version to 11.1.2.4 and after that I was successfully able to open and modify the client's outline.
